My Headlines

We have moved to Wordpress! Posted by Jason Links to this post The Recruiting Front Lines has evolved. At the beginning of the year, I changed jobs within my company, moving away from Outreach and Education, and into my new role as Director of Business Development. While I remain closely involved with our field activity, I am now more focused on strategic partnerships, social media, and the world of internet recruitment resources. As I have made this change, the focus of my blog content has also changed. Recently, I began to feel that many of the ideas I had for blog posts would not fit within the framework of The Recruiting Front Lines. This was a cause of some frustration, as I felt that I was either misrepresenting my content with the title of my blog, or that I was stifling my writing because I felt it didn't fit. To rectify this situation, I have created a new blog home, now on WordPress. I am still ironing out the wrinkles, but feel that it is far enough along that I can move all my past content, and begin posting all new content, at the new address. I would like to formally welcome everyone to come check out my new home at I can't wait to hear what you think! Best Regards, and Thank you for your time and attention over the past 18 months. Jason

JobsInAL - Face to Face in Birmingham!

The properties of JobsInTheUS have launched a focused initiative to reinforce strong and lasting connections with the local communities they serve in AL, LA, MA, ME, MS, NH, VT, & RI. Unlike most internet resources, these companies are participatory in local business and trade associations, HR Associations, career centers at colleges, universities, trades schools, and government centers. In addition to this interaction with the business community, the websites now also provide in-person events to connect great in-state employers with the best local talent. Check out this series of posts with briefs on the recent career fairs hosted by JobsInAL, JobsInNH, JobsInME, and JobsInRI! 2008 Career Fair Attracts Great Local Candidates

On September 10,, in partnership with Manufacture Alabama!, hosted a career fair at the Cahaba Grand in Birmingham. This successful event brought together area employers with high quality local job seekers.

More than 25 companies registered to exhibit at the event, representing many different industries. What the attending companies found when they arrived was a professional and friendly staff, along with very good quality applicants. In fact, 86% of the employers expressed that the event was successful for their purposes, and were likely to attend the next event in the spring. Job seekers who came through were able to have good conversations with some of the area's best employers.

The Cahaba Grand event space allowed for a comfortable atmosphere, providing seekers and employers with a great atmosphere to connect and get to know each other. Patrick Erb, the Manager of Outreach and Education for took the time to work with job seekers one on one, offering advice and directions on resume writing, interview practices, and the overall job hunting process.
